Tzedek, Tzedek Tirdof: Demand Healthcare Without New Restrictions on Abortion
"It has been enacted that in every place in which Jews live, the community sets aside a fund for care of the sick. When poor people are ill and who cannot afford medical expenses, the community sends them a doctor to visit them, and the medicine is paid for by the communal fund." --Tzitz Eliezer V, Ramat Rahel--Collection of Responsa on Medical Issues #4
Now that congressional leaders and the White House are pushing for a final vote on health care reform, Congressman Bart Stupak and his allies - including the U.S. National Conference of Catholic Bishops - are threatening to bring down the entire bill unless it eliminates private health insurance coverage for abortion. Since they won't quit, neither can we. Celebrate International Women's Day
