Welcome to CBST’s new online home!

From CBST President Stephen E. Frank:

When CBST was founded 36 years ago in the annex of a Chelsea church, the handful of men gathered together for that first Shabbat service could hardly have imagined what the community they started would become – or the ways in which their brave act would change the world.

They could not have imagined that, 36 years later, we would be a growing, vibrant congregation of more than 800 members that opens its doors to more than 3,000 people for its High Holiday services each year. They could not have imagined our nationally renowned clergy, led by a senior rabbi who is regularly ranked as one of the most influential in America. And they could not have imagined the powerful impact our congregation and its members would have in helping to advance LGBT rights in the Jewish community, as well as within civil society. Yet that is CBST today.

This website marks our latest effort to enhance communication not just with CBST’s existing members, but also with the world at large. Whether or not you are a member, we invite you to explore these pages, to learn more about who we are as a community and the values we share. You can find out who’s speaking at this week’s services or even listen to podcasts featuring some of the teachings of our rabbis. And, of course, there’s also information on how you can make CBST your spiritual home – something we hope you’ll consider once you find out more about our amazing community.

Shalom!
