This year, in honor of our new Torah Project, CBST offers these opportunities to learn more about the Torah itself.
B’reisheit/Genesis: In the Beginning-Opening Ceremony
Tuesday, December 8th, 7pm
Be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime project from the very beginning. Soferet (scribe) Rabbi Linda Motzkin will explain the craft, methods and materials of traditional Jewish scribal arts and the making of a Torah. Join us to learn the details of the scribal process and to learn about our year of studying and creating CBST’s new Torah with our own hands.

Vayikra/Leviticus Revealed

Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 are among the most quoted and least understood verses in the Torah. How can we understand these verses in their historical context and in the context of the evolving process of Jewish law? What do they really say about sexual orientation, sexual identity, and sexual practice? What does Leviticus ultimately have to teach us about sexuality and morality? Join Rabbi Cohen for a close study and discussion of these verses and their implications.
Bamidbar/Numbers: Spies in the Wilderness

In the Book of Numbers, Moses sends 12 spies out to observe the Promised Land and all that it contains. Rabbi Kleinbaum will guide in-depth exploration of this compelling episode, using the traditional tools of Torah study.
Devarim/Deuteronomy: Moses addressed all Israel

Rabbi, psychologist (and former Congressional candidate) Dennis Shulman, PhD, leads amulti-layered examination into the book of Deuteronomy, Moses’ farewell address to the Jewish people.
Shavuot/Revelation -Closing Celebration
May 18, 7pm
On Shavuot when we celebrate the Israelites receiving the Torah at Sinai, CBST officially receives our completed Torah. Tonight CBST members will chant the Ten Commandments from our new Torah.
