Women earn only 77 cents for every dollar men make, and victims of gender based pay discrimination are not afforded the same legal recourse as victims of other forms of pay discrimination. The Paycheck Fairness Act (S. 182), already passed by the House, would correct shortcomings in current civil rights law and ensure protection against sex-based pay discrimination.
