The LGBTQ Synagogue / Community / Transgender

CBST is a home for people of all gender identities and expressions. From our liturgy to our bathrooms to our rituals and social justice work, we are actively engaged in affirming the lives of transgender and gender non-conforming individuals.

Are you new to our community, interested in learning more about CBST or about trans programming and experiences here?

For more information or if you would like to be connected with a trans person in our community, please email  .

Trans Empowerment Committee

Seeks to further the inclusion of transgender, transsexual, gender non-conforming, genderqueer and gender-questioning people within the Jewish community. Through community building, political action, life cycle and community education events the Committee aims to create a visible, vibrant and active Jewish community of transgender and allied people at CBST. Planning meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7pm at Bethune Street. Co-Chairs are Mike Waldman and Jase Schwartz.
