Program Overview
Limmud Mishpachah is an innovative education program for school aged children grades K-5 at Congregation Beit Simchat Torah.
Part 1: Shabbat Communal Learning
Twice during the month, on the second and fourth Saturdays, all children of the same age group gather together for learning and prayer at our synagogue during the Shabbat morning minyan .
Part 2: Midweek Neighborhood Study Groups
Once a week after school, small, multi-grade groups meet in different neighborhoods where members of the CBST community live. This makes mid-week Jewish learning feasible for families not living near our West Village synagogue location. Mid-week learning will be arranged through Rabbi Weiss starting in October.
These two elements are not conceived of as separate entities, but instead are designed to work together , each one reinforcing lessons and ideas from the other. A project from the midweek session, for example, might be presented to the larger group on Shabbat.
