Dinner at CBST Board Member Heymi Kuriel’s Apartment

With CBST Board and GLBT Center Board, Israeli Consul General Asaf Shariv, and New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn.

We were invited to the apartment of CBST board member Heymi Kuriel. We met with the CBST and GLBT center board members, and with NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn and with the Israeli Consul.

Heymi welcomed us to his home and spoke about the significance of the mishlahat to him.

The Israeli Consul spoke about the tragedy of the murder in Tel-Aviv and expressed a commitment to prevent violence, and ensure freedom and security for all citizens.

Rotem spoke for the members of the mishlahat. She mentioned our community members who were still wounded and hospitalized. She spoke about how much we appreciated the gift of the mishlahat to us, a feeling that there is an entire community that cares deeply about us, and embraces us.

From Amir: “That evening gave us a profound sense of understanding. We understood the goal of the mishlahat, and how much the people who had organized it cared about us, and about the murders in Tel-Aviv. People spoke about their grief. It was an extremely powerful experience.”
