A Week of Discovery

Members of the Mishlahat speak out about their week in New York.

From Rotem:

Thank you for opening your homes and hearts I was very touched. Meeting your community was the most incredible thing for me in this Mishlachat. I felt hugged by CBST thank you for that too. A very meaningful experience was spending time in the synagogue with you, I don’t come from a religious family yet I felt at home. I hope that a community like yours could exist in Israel. I hope the bond between the two communities here in Israel and in NYC would stay strong. I miss you all very much and hope we will meet again.

Warmly

Rotem

From Mor:

One of the most important things i'm taking from this Mishlachat is that with a small action and a lot of love, we can achieve so many things in our lives. The people I met in New York were so amazing and interesting, each one of them with his story. I met a community that fight for a better society and also get one. It gave me a lot of power and now I feel that I can make a huge difference in the LGBTQ community in Israel. Every conversation I had with a CBST member made me realize more and more how lucky we are as a delegation to watch the queer community in NY and learn from them so much. I want to thank everyone who helped us be in NY and have the best week ever.

Miss you and want to come back to NY as soon as I'll be able to, Mor

From Noam:

I came to NY with my focus on the children, what they would experience during this unique trip. But I myself had received so much, in ways I've only begun to understand.

I grew up resenting Judaism, and I came to your synagogue quit reluctantly, thinking nothing good can come out of any religion. I'm going back to Israel with a new outlook on Judaism, listening carefully for the oboe, as rabbi Kleinbaum said.

Thank you all so much for that.

With love and appreciation, Noam, JOH ex-youth-counselor
