Researchers Conclude Same-Sex Couples are Just as Effective as Parents as Opposite-Sex Couples


An article in the Journal of Marriage and Family presents evidence disputing the traditional notion that children need male and female parents for healthy adjustment.

Children raised by same-sex couples appear to do as well as those raised by parents of both sexes, suggests a research review that challenging traditional notions that children need male and female parents for healthy adjustment. The article was published last week in the Journal of Marriage and Family. The researchers reviewed 81 studies of one- and two-parent families, including gay, lesbian and heterosexual couples, and found that "No research supports the widely held conviction that the gender of parents matters for child well-being."
