Our Torah Has Arrived!
Join us this month for the readying and dedicaiton of our Torah.
Please join us this Thursday at 12:00 pm at our Bethune Street Sanctuary as soferet Jen Taylor Friedman sews together the completed Torah scroll and the atzei chayim (the wooden posts). Then join Jack Greenberg on a guided tour of the special scribal features of the Torah and to help participate in some final proofreading as we ready the scroll for dedication.
The dedication of our Torah will be on the evening of May 18, on the first night of Shavuot at our Bethune Street sanctuary. On the holiday we celebrate the Israelites receiving the Torah at Sinai, CBST officially receives our completed Torah.
Walk with us as we carry our Torah into our Sanctuary. We will meet at the Hudson River Park at 11th St and the West Side Highway at 7pm.
After this procession, at about 7:30pm, we will begin our Shavuot dedication service and chant the Ten Commandments from our new Torah. Please join us for this historic moment in the life of CBST.
