Torah Writing Afternoon with Sofer Rabbi Gedalia Druin
Wednesday, April 14
letter writing from 1:00-6:00pm

A Torah writing afternoon for CBST members of all ages! Stand with the Soferet as he guides your hand in writing a letter in the Torah scroll. Open to all CBST members, regardless of Hebrew writing ability. Advance registration for letter writing is required.

Members and dedicators are required to register in advance for an appointment with the soferet. Families are encouraged to register for an appointment together. Each individual/family will have about ten minutes with the soferet.

The letters have been outlined for us to fill in with the sofer/et. The letters will be written in the order in which they appear in the Torah. Every CBST member will be able to write a letter with the sofer/et. We cannot guarantee that anyone will be able to write any particular letter.

Ellen Wertheim will lead members in embroidering stitches in the gartle (sash) that will be used to tie the Torah, and in creating Hebrew letters in clay.

Our Torah, Our Stories: Creating Our Sacred Texts.
CBST’s Annual Congregational Retreat
April 23-25, 2010
Camp Isabella Friedman in the Connecticut Berkshires

Through workshops, discussion groups, and shared storytelling, we will explore the connections between the stories of the Torah and our own stories, and reflect on what it is that makes certain stories resonate for us as individuals and as Jews. We’ll also forge new connections with each other through services, songs, dancing, yoga, eating, creating art, going birding, and more. With special guest, soferet Rabbi Linda Motzkin.
Registration now open online.
